Background

The course is designed to prepare candidates with a background in software engineering to work at international agencies. This course will cover topics ranging from soft skills to technical skills, including Communications for tech seniors, advanced data architecture, distributed backend systems, frontend architecture and performance, secure software delivery, engineering governance, quality engineering, production engineering and SRE, production AI engineering, system design, and product and delivery leadership.

Course Description

An innovative and unique bootcamp designed to replicate the dynamic environment of an elite international tech firm. Over the course of 12 weeks, participants will engage in collaborative teamwork to develop key modules of a project, utilizing cutting-edge methodologies, industry best practices, and AI-powered tools to enhance efficiency and quality.  

The program will be delivered online on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays from 6:30 to 8:00 pm local Lebanon time for the period of 12 weeks. In addition, soft skills training will take place on Saturdays for 3 days (full day workshop). The sessions will be live and remote training sessions except for the soft skills training, which will require physical presence at Beirut Digital District.

Additionally, participants will be asked to work on assignments and asynchronous tasks and be engaged both on Slack and during sessions to foster a collaborative learning environment and to simulate real-world development team dynamics.

Each session covers new concepts, live coding, and Q&A. The format is hands-on and practical, with real-world examples used throughout.

Course Objectives

By the end of this course, students will be able to:

• Give constructive feedback, coach teammates, delegate work, and communicate clearly with engineers, managers, and clients.
• Make informed decisions about databases, data models, migrations, caching, replicas, partitioning, sharding, service boundaries, and event-driven architecture.
• Handle failures with retries, timeouts, circuit breakers, and idempotency while applying authentication, authorization, rate limiting, threat modeling, and security scanning.
• Establish testing strategies, code review standards, CI/CD pipelines, component libraries, versioning, observability, and performance standards.
• Define SLOs, monitor applications, build dashboards, respond to incidents, and conduct blameless post-mortems.
• Design AI agents and RAG systems, apply guardrails and permission boundaries, defend against prompt injection, and evaluate AI features before release.
• Scope MVPs, define requirements, estimate work under uncertainty, manage technical debt, and connect engineering decisions to product goals and KPIs.
• Use Git, GitHub, and AI tools to maintain an efficient, collaborative, and auditable development process.
• Eligibility Criteria
• Lebanese.
• Minimum age 23.
• Strong foundation in software engineering, at least 3 years of professional experience. Exceptions can be made on a case-by-case basis; you can still apply if you have a good understanding of fundamental software engineering principles.
• Familiarity with at least one programming language, database management system and styling techniques.
• Proficiency in English is a must.
• Participants are expected to demonstrate a high level of commitment, which includes full availability to attend all online and face to-face sessions, actively engage in additional work such as exercises and assignments, and dedicate sufficient time to develop comprehensive end-of course project.
• Applicants must sit for a comprehensive entrance assessment to evaluate their skills and aptitude,  ensuring that our program aligns well with their skills and career objectives. This includes an interview, a time-limited asynchronous coding task, and, in certain cases, a brief real-time coding challenge.
